EnglishJorge Luis Borges was an Argentine writer, literary critic, and librarian who lived the majority of his life in Switzerland. Borges authored of 40 works and was awarded an international publishers prize Prix Formentor in 1961. I discovered Borges the latter part of 2008, while browsing thru the suggested readings section at the library. Shakespeares Memory and The Book of Sand was the selection that caught my eye. In a small room, a book was opened by a mystic man… all that happened in an eternal library. He was one of the last Borges’ characters, Jaromir Hladik, who -in the point of being shot- stopped a bullet to correct his imaginary literary work. The town of ... Read Full Story

This beautiful video highlights an easy summer hike from the base of Cerro (Mount) Catedral to Refugio Frey at the summit. It takes about three and a half hours and starts at the parking lot of Cerro Catedral, a 20 minute drive from Bariloche. My advice - go on the hike in early spring (November) or later in the summer (February and March) to avoid the tábanos (horseflies). If you do want to enjoy the hike in December-January wear long pants, long sleeves, a hat, and try some insect repellent.  Extra maximum strength insect repellent... The wild lupines you see in the beginning of the video ... Read Full Story
