Right about now most people including myself are getting into their "bracketology" mind frame in order to prepare for the greatest time of the year, MARCH MADNESS. When it is tourney time all bets are off, or should I say all bets are ON. Everyone is looking for the cinderella team that could take their bracket to the finals and help them emerge victorious in their office pools or give them year long bragging rights over their weak minded friends.
This is not a cinderella team report instead it is a potential pretender alert. This afternoon #3 Syracuse suffered two devastating blows in the Big East Tournament. First they lost to #22 Georgetown by a final score of 91 -84. Secondly, and much worse of the two, Syracuse may have lost starting center Arinze Onuaku for the entire NCAA Tournament to a knee injury. The injury looked pretty minor, however, Onuaka could be seen writhing in pain for quite some time.
Even with this potential loss, Syracuse could still be named a #1 seed at the start of the NCAA Tourney next Thursday. If this were the case, look out for a quick exit by Syracuse due to a lack of depth as they used a 7 man rotation before the injury and could be dead men walking if they are reduced to a 6 man rotation. But isn't this what college basketball is all about; the entire season is for show but the tournament is for the dough!
