Even though we do not carry halogen lighting we believe it is important to explain that technology as it is used to illuminate artwork.
The miracle of halogen allows a tine lamp source no bigger than the tip of your finger to produce a great deal of light. When engineers first put a tungsten filament in a bulb filled with halogen gas, something miraculous happened. The tungsten particles emitted by the hot filament were captured by the halogen gas before they could form deposits on the bulb, and returned to their sources.
The importance of this discovery? By keeping the bulb wall from blackening, the “halogen regenerative cycle” introduced the concept of near perfect light output throughout the life of a lamp. And, with a lifetime of over 2,000 hours, halogen lamps last two to three times longer than standard lamps.
Large Light Output From a Small Light Source. A miniature 7 watt halogen lamp produces the same amount of light as a 60-watt household lamp – yet it’s only one-sixth the size. To learn more about picture framing supplies visit www.mmdistributors.com.
