TOKYO (AP) -- Mongolian Yokozuna Hakuho overpowered compatriot Asashoryu on Sunday to win the Emperor's Cup on the final day of the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.
In the day's final bout at Ryogoku Kokugikan, Hakuho prevailed in a thrilling bout after using an arm throw at the center of the ring to send his fellow grand champion tumbling to the dirt surface.

TOKYO (AP) -- Grand champion Hakuho of Mongolia defeated Kaio on Friday to stay tied for the lead with compatriot Asashoryu at the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.
In the day's final bout at Ryogoku Kokugikan, Hakuho improved to 12-1 when he forced ozeki Kaio out after a prolonged standoff in the middle of the ring. Kaio dropped to 8-5.

TOKYO (AP) -- Mongolian grand champion Hakuho defeated Kotomitsuki on Saturday and will face compatriot Asashoryu on Sunday in a rare final-day showdown for the title at the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.
