U.N.: Poor not feeling recovery
UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 19 (UPI) --
A U.N. report warns global economic turmoil is still pushing millions into poverty, saying of recovery are not reaching the poor.
The report, titled contends the poor in the developing world continue to suffer disproportionately from the global recession. The report indicates 100 million more people are now below the poverty line and 61 million people have been added to the ranks of the unemployed in the last two years.
U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro said in a statement Friday.
Migiro said migrants working overseas will be remitting 7 percent less to their families in developing countries this year.
Migiro said.
