Ashlee Nicole Simpson (born October 3, 1984) is an American pop rock singer–songwriter and actress, and the younger sister of pop singer Jessica Simpson. She starred on "The Ashlee Simpson Show," an MTV reality show that followed her rise to stardom. Her first album "Pieces of Me" went platinum, but her credibility as a performer took a huge hit when it became apparent she was lip-synching on SNL. Ashlee Simpson to Pout on Melrose Place

Entertainment Weekly reports that Ashlee Simpson has been cast in the new Melrose Place. Yes, that's right: Melrose Place is coming back. With Ashlee Simpson.
Apparently Ms. Simpson plays Violet, a woman who masks her sex kittendom under a sweet, small-town veneer (i.e. Sydney from the first series). Ashlee recently guest-starred on an episode of CSI: New York with her husband, Pete Wentz. Check out the clip below and decide for yourself if she can pull off Melrose Place:
With Simpson in the cast, you can bet on guest appearances by Wentz and sister Jessica. Mischa Barton is reportedly still in talks to join the show's cast. No word on whether Heather Locklear will step up for a few episodes.
