Ashlee Nicole Simpson (born October 3, 1984) is an American pop rock singer–songwriter and actress, and the younger sister of pop singer Jessica Simpson. She starred on "The Ashlee Simpson Show," an MTV reality show that followed her rise to stardom. Her first album "Pieces of Me" went platinum, but her credibility as a performer took a huge hit when it became apparent she was lip-synching on SNL. Just weeks ago when Ashlee was a castmember Jessica tweeted, "Everyone watch my sis on melrose place tonight," but since Ashlee's been fired, Jessica's attitude has taken a turn for the negative.

Ouch. It was announced a couple of weeks ago that Ashlee would be leaving the show after the first season's murder mystery was solved and the series evolved into something a little bit more upbeat. But an insider told Us Weekly that the CW "hired her [Ashlee] because they needed a good name to help create buzz. But she was embarrassingly bad. Producers cut her down as much as possible."
