Ashleigh Banfield to Join ABC News for Unspecified Post
(Getty Images)You may recognize Ashleigh Banfield from TV shows like Open Court and Hollywood Heat, but before she hit legal television she made a name for herself as an MSNBC war correspondent. Now, it seems Banfield is returning to her roots, as she's expected to join ABC News next year. According to Mediabistro.com, an ABC spokesperson declined to confirm the news, but they did say, "We like Ashleigh Banfield and admire her work."

The most high-profile job opening at the network is the void left by Diane Sawyer, who was a Good Morning America anchor. Sawyer's backing out of her position next month, but Banfield will not be the woman to fill it -- Mediabistro claims she's being considered for other, future posts. The spokesperson said, "We're always looking at ways to program news on the network and we've tested a number of presentations for expanded news."
Apparently Banfield is someone has already been tested in said presentations. In any case, she's leaving her job with TruTV (formerly CourtTV) behind: Her last day is today. She's among 65 other employees being dropped by the company.
