Ashley Wagner, Wagner is the 2008 U.S. bronze medalist and a two-time World Junior bronze medalist (2007, 2009) … Has won three medals in the Grand Prix Series: bronze at 2007 Trophee Eric Bompard, silver at the 2009 Rostelecom Cup and bronze at the 2009 NHK Trophy … Took the bronze at the 2007 U.S. Championships as a junior … Won the silver at the 2006 Junior Grand Prix Final.
Wagner grew up in a military family; she was born in Germany and moved nine times while growing up … Began skating at age 5 in Eagle River, Alaska … Participated in the Basic Skills Program in 1996 … Was on the Academic Honor Roll and a member of the National Junior Honor Society in high school … Takes classes at Northern Virginia Community College … Her mom is an elementary school teacher, and Wagner often speaks at community school events … Volunteers for “Reading Night,” “Sports Night” and “Career Night” … Along with her family, supports the USO, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Love Our Children USA, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing child abuse … Enjoys working with children, often helping with local learn-to-skate programs … Younger brother, Austin, skates at the novice level … Hobbies include reading, running and watching “The Office” … Is a huge Georgetown Hoyas fan, and hopes to attend the school later on … Wants to go on the show “What Not to Wear” because “even though I don’t have terrible fashion sense, I would still get some very stylish and free clothes!” … Would like to meet Tara Lipinski because watching her free skate at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games was when her own Olympic dreams began … Most prized possession is her German Wirehaired Pointer, Millie, who sleeps on her bed every night … Says her biggest life-defining moment is landing her double Axel … Wants to go into public relations or marketing … Hopes to one day travel back to all the places she has competed to actually see the sights … Has the Red Hot Chili Peppers, O.A.R. and John Mayer on her iPod.
