Princess Aurora, My Favorite Disney Character

My favorite Disney character is Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. She was definitely my most admired Disney princess. Cinderella costume is nice too, but is runner-up on my list.

Why is that? I remember seeing the movie Sleeping Beauty for the initial time when I was just a wee lad. Though I was apprehensive of the vicious Maleficent and of the ghostly music in the first few scenes already, I kept on watching. Then when the fairy tale finally took place after Aurora was grown up, I thought she was utterly gorgeous. Her lines are flawless, her hair is perfect, and she's got an brilliant voice (I guess I gotta give that credit to the voice actor.) Funny that when I watch Sleeping Beauty now, I do think that she looks older than sixteen, but she's still a true beauty.

I especially love the scene when Princess Aurora first encountered Prince Philip, and they had their round of singing and flirting. And really amusing, now looking back, that they just fell into each other's arms after they were done singing. Well, that was quick. But what really makes me wonder now is that Prince Philip doesn't ever speak in the scenes where he was about to fight the dragon. Did you ever notice that?

I also like Sleeping Beauty because of the Fairy God Mothers! They're just these cute squat mom like personae with their eccentric personality. I also love how the three of them interacted with each other. I am truly amused by the Fairy God Mothers. I remember secretly wishing that I had three fairy god mothers as well. I didn't ever tell my own mother that though. Didn't want her to get mad!

Now that Halloween is near, I am actually debating to be Princess Aurora. Okay, I may not look like her, and probably isn't as gorgeous as she is, but I am thinking why not. I was looking for some suggestions on costumes, and thought this Disney costume ideas photo-blog had a nice photo of Princess Aurora. I probably would need a wig, since I'm not blond, and that pink dress would definitely make or break the costume. So I probably need to buy a costume that depicts the gown pretty well. And of course I would need to buy some sort of tiara that looks like hers. I also stumbled upon this other blog that likes Aurora too, so another reference for your next Disney Halloween costumes. Anyway, wish me luck! Happy Halloween!
