Austin Romine’s back acting up again

By rabruzzese on  From bronxbaseballdaily.com
Austin Romine seems to be developing a becoming-more-serious back problem. He missed time late last year with a back problem and then came to camp this year and missed almost two weeks. Now not even a month later it is a problem again. “From what I understand, [Romine] felt a little pinch back there,” Girardi told Byran Hoch and Paul Hagen of MLB.com. ”I think they’re evaluating what the next step will be. He doesn’t feel great. He was feeling great, so it’s just rehabbing the issue that he...Read Full Story

With Russell Martin a year away from free agency and Jesus Montero recently traded, Austin Romine could potentially become a big part of the Yankees future and quickly. This season is a big one in determining how quickly Romine becomes the future. By rabruzzese on  From bronxbaseballdaily.com
They weren’t very likely to make the team out of spring training anyway, but a pair of Yankees, Russell Branyan and Austin Romine, have made it even harder on themselves as they have come down with back injuries. Romine has already been out with a back injuries since Feb. 26, but now Branyan is going to be sitting out with back spasms, according to Chad Jennings of the Journal News. Because of the nature of the injury, neither player has a good idea of when they will be back, but it could be...Read Full Story

Yankees discussed a 3-year extension with Russell Martin

By rabruzzese on  From bronxbaseballdaily.com
At the end of last season, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made it obvious that he is a fan of Russell Martin, calling him Thurman Munson-like. So it shouldn’t come as much of shock to hear that the Yankees briefly talked about a three-year extension with the catcher. “My agent and the Yankees talked a little bit about an extension,” Martin told Chad Jennings of the Journal News. “Including this year, they were talking about three years. That’s where the conversation ended. They didn’t...Read Full Story
