Future Trends In Autism Resources
A recent search of keywords and review of websites on the topic of autism resources has revealed that there are few organizations, if any, who have allocated any attention to futuristic aspects and the impact of millions of U.S. citizens with autism who will be living in virtually every U.S. community over the next several decades.
According to the Autism Society of America an estimated 4 million people with autism will be living in U.S. communities in just the next ten years. There is a yet to be estimated number of these individuals who are likely to require long term assistance and fascilitation of functional daily living, and community autism resources. It would seem essential that professionals who work with people with autism, community planners, and other members of society begin to conceive of communities that would be supportive of the integral success of these individuals in culture and society.
The Autism Resources wikizine has been established to draw other like-minded professionals, family and friends, community planners, local, state, and federal representatives and most importantly, people with autism to begin a dialogue about the future of American society living with autism. This wikizine is also created to provide perspectives, views, and autism resources that may not be available to the general public or easily obtained by those who may have an interest in pursuing alternative methods in a safe and well-informed manner relative to the perceptions and relevance of those who have autism.
