do vaccines cause autism?
Dana B
No, they do not cause autism! Do some research, please. It’s a very important decision to have your child vaccinated, and by deciding to skip it, you’re putting your child and community at risk.

Get your child vaccinated, it’s very important. They don’t cause autism. Vaccines are necessary for a child, please think well and hard before you make the decision not to give her any.

No – they do not.

New studies have proven that there is no correlation between vaccines and autism. So the answer to your question is no.
I thought I would add that vaccines are important to keep your child healthy. The only reason we haven’t had huge epidemics of the diseases and infections that vaccines protect against is because people are being vaccinated. We have the technology to protect our children, why not take advantage of it!
Kayleigh’s had her baby!
The vaccine that was brought in to question was the MMR vaccine at 12 months, not the early vaccines. That said the guy who made these accusations that linked MMR to Autism has now been struck of the medical register and had his work completely discredited. There is NO link at all to autism and vaccinations.
Personally I didn’t wait, there are other non-autism related reasons why people don’t vaccinate, but in my opinion the protection given by vaccinations FAR outweighs the risks of vaccinating. If you do choose to wait that is completely your choice, but I didn’t as I wanted my daughter to be protected ASAP, I would have hated for her to be exposed to one of the illnesses and catch it just because I had delayed vaccinations.
Vaccinations are a personal choice, but as a first time mum I was more worried about what would happen if I didn’t vaccinate, not about the vaccinations themselves.

I don’t really know but both my babies are getting vaccinated on time. If my children were very small or preemies, I’d probably want to wait until they are a healthy size…but they say the risks of not getting the vaccines far outweigh the risks of getting them…my oldest is 2 1/2 and very healthy

no! there has not been enough studies to prove this or find a link between the two! if this was the case then all babies who get their shots would develope autism! its more risky not to let your child have their shots to protect them against serious and fatal illnesses! i have never questioned whether my kids would have theirs and are all fully up to date with them all!

There is no proof that vaccines cause autism, in fact, it has been disproved in many, many studies. It has been proven however that vaccinated kids have more immunity against the diseases that have been killing children for centuries. So it comes down to do you want to “risk” your child getting autism or do you want to risk your vunerable newborn dying when an outbreak of some diseases hits and your baby has no protection?
Babies have been dying of whooping cough recently, even though the say all it takes to prevent that is the parents and older siblings being vaccinated. I’m going to do whatever it takes to keep my children alive.

This is SUCH a touchy topic. The most recent studies have shown that shots (mostly the scary MMR shot) does not cause autism. Actually what seems to happen is if your child already has autism and maybe isn’t showing the major signs yet it could possibly cause a “trigger” to show the signs more but it would have happened sometime anyway. That’s what I have read, but who knows. My main concern is the amount of aluminum in vaccines. Some contain very high levels. That’s why I have chosen to get my son vaccinated but only given one shot at a time so he doesn’t get a super high amount of aluminum at any one time. I delayed my youngest son’s shots but that is because he was a VERY tiny preemie (3 pounds). Everyone will have a different opinion about shots. This is just mine. I highly suggest you read the Vaccine Book by Dr Sears. It tells you anything and everything you would ever want to know about the vaccines your baby will get.

All evidence says no. The only paper to suggest such a link was retracted and the lead author had his medical license pulled for ethics violations.
On the other hand, there is evidence autism is largely genetic and is influenced by the age of the parents.
Edit: Note that no one can provide any positive evidence for a link. Only hearsay.
In contrast, here is a comprehensive review of the scientific data:

Edit: Note the dishonesty rampant amongst antivaxxers.
If you actually look at the profits for vaccines, childhood vaccines make virtually no money. The entire vaccine industry is less profitable than a single statin.
Vaccine manufacturers are exempt from liability in order to get them to actually make vaccines. If they weren’t, every company would have quit decades ago. If you are actually injured by a vaccine, the government will pay you damages using a much less stringent standard of evidence than the regular court system.
And again, note the complete lack of actual evidence.
