A community portal about Autism with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests in delays of "social interaction, language as used in social communication, or symbolic or imaginative play," with "onset prior to age 3 years," according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The ICD-10 also requires symptoms to "manifest before the age of three years." Autism is often not physiologically obvious, in that outward appearance may not indicate a disorder, and diagnosis typically comes from a complete physical and neurological evaluation.
Encopresis Syndrome and Asperger’s Syndrome
Recurrently, you will have your autistic child prefer to commune with you in interesting ways, such as with a gross misuse of pronouns. They will prefer instead to line up toys and other objects than to spend time playing with others. Oftentimes, these kids are so quite, you might not realize that they are in the room, and then something might happen – something you might consider to be of no issue, and they could go off like a siren. Living with an autistic child is a challenge all the way, but it can be done. There are lots of parents who have successfully lived with their autistic kids. You can as well.
Encopresis is a painful syndrome that often comes along with autism. It is caused by partial blockage of your large intestine, often by hard stool, a situation that a lot of people suspect to increase your allergies and affect your immune system. Thankfully it is treatable. Autism on the other hand is treatable, such that you get some relief, but really, there isn’t any cure… at least not yet, but maybe in the not too distant future.
Your child may be suffering from Asperger’s syndrome and not regular autism when they use unusual words or sound somewhat old-fashioned in their communication. Be thankful that this is not full blown autism, because in that a case, the child might not even communicate at all. Even with a bleak prognosis, it isn’t like you have a lot of choice in the matter anyway. Your child is your child and you must accept them the way they are.
There are a lot of difficulties that little kids may experience before they develop enough to become independent. When these difficulties become pronounced and appear to now be affecting the child’s mental development, your doctor is the best person who can give you a say on such a matter. They could or might not be autism, but at least you need the professional’s opinion.
