Tips:

Visiting the Bailiwick of Guernsey

Located on an island that is off Normandy you will find Bailiwick of Guernsey. It is not considered to be part of the United Kingdom, but instead a possession of the Crown, like the Isle of Man. It is known as a part of the Channel Islands, and not considered to be part of the European Union.

There are three archaeological areas that you should check out on Guernsey, they are the following. Three Sculpted Menhirs that can be found on the island, Le Gardien de Tombeau, and L’Autel du Dehus are two of the names. Attacked many times in the past through several different wars, it has changed hands of which the island belonged too.

While the island experienced an increase in wealth during the 19th century, because of the success they found in the maritime trade. During World War I there were 3, 000 men who were part of the British Expeditionary Force.

While WWII saw the island being occupied by the Germans.

To date you can see some of the visible signs of German occupation during the time. Guernsey itself measure about 25 square miles and is around 48 kilometers from France’s coast. Again not a part of England, but still considered a possession of the Crown, Guernsey is a place that has gone through a lot of changes through the years.

With some fabulous locations that you should see, which do include those signs of German occupations through the walls that were built up for defense. Though many are located on private land you will still find many of them open to be seen by the public. Check out the lighthouses too that are located on the Island of Guernsey.

Another fabulous location that you will find some spots where it seems like you are back in time.

A perfect place for a vacation or at least a stop on a vacation.
