Mexico Car Insurance

In Mexico the two words, “car insurance,” do not always connote the same type of insurance coverage. There a five different types of Mexico car insurance.

Are you planning to drive to Mexico? Car insurance should protect you in the event of a collision, assuming that you have purchased the correct type of insurance The holder of a policy that covers collision, upset or breakage can expect compensation for that type of damage. Alternate damage would, however, not be covered by the insurer.

Suppose, for example, that you arrange to purchase the type of Mexico car insurance that covers collision, upset and breakage. Suppose then that your car is stolen, or catches fire. Your chosen type of Mexico car insurance would not qualify you for coverage to fire damage or loss due to theft.

Suppose that you purchased two different types of Mexico car insurance—one to cover collisions, etc, and one to cover fire and theft. Then suppose that while you are in Mexico some type of local “gang” becomes riled by something that you do. Suppose they then damage your vehicle. Again you would be unable to present a claim to your insurer, because you did not have the right type of policy.

Sometimes a driver in Mexico can leave the county without getting a single scratch on his or her car. That driver might, however, need protection from a civil claim entered by a Mexican resident. That resident might claim damage to his or her property, damage caused by the vehicle owned and operated by a Mexican tourist.

A final type of Mexico car insurance covers medical payments. If the driver and passengers are injured in a car accident while in Mexico, then their care is covered by that particular insurance policy. The driver should inquire (before an accident takes place) whether or not the coverage for medical payments takes-in the costs of ambulance transportation.

Obviously a good provider of Mexico car insurance would offer customers a chance to purchase any or all of the five different types of potentially needed car insurance. Still that offering alone is not enough to qualify any insurance provider as a good provider.

The insurance provider should also agree to either a one time fee or a per use fee. A provider who wants to tack on multiple added fees can not be thought of as a “good” insurance provider. Discovery of a “good” insurance provider should add to the security of the driver and passengers during a Mexican vacation.
