The cars of Michael Jackson

Music legend Michael Jackson has died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest.

His brother Jermaine Jackson said he believed the 50-year-old singer fell ill at his Holmby Hills home in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon.

The self-styled King of Pop had been due to perform 50 farewell concerts in London this summer, bowing out on a music career spanning several decades while aiming to resurrect his fortunes.

Besides his music, Jackson was famous for his flamboyant fashion sense and his car collection matched that style. Earlier this year it was announced the singer was to have his fantastic automotive collection auctioned off as part of a mammoth Neverland clearout.

Models included his old 1999 Rolls Royce Silver Seraph limousine with a 24 carat gold interior designed by Jackson himself.

The Rolls Royce limousine was fitted with a 322bhp 5.4-litre V12 engine made from aluminium alloy and was expected to sell for £100,000.

But the auction was cancelled a week before it was expected to take place in April after Jackson filed a lawsuit to have some of the items returned.

Also on the initial auction list were a Harley Davidson motorcycle decked out in police livery and his old tour bus.

The 500bhp 1997 ‘Neoplan’ tour bus includes leather sofas and recliners, granite surfaces, a full-sized shower stall, kitchen, intercom system and an upgraded audio-video system including a large, flat-panel television.

Michael also owned a unique Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60, complete with a V8 engine and 230bhp.

The Caddy was driven by The Dark Knight star Morgan Freeman in 1989’s Oscar winner Driving Miss Daisy. It was expected to fetch upwards of £20,000.

The collection also included a 1986 GMC High Sierra 3500 Truck converted into a fire engine by ‘Emergency One’. It had a six-cylinder engine, firefighter gear, hoses and ladders, and was custom painted for its duties at Neverland.
