Nova Henry was shot to death on January 24th along with her 10-month old daughter, Ava Curry. Her 3-year-old son, Noah, was later found by his grandmother asleep on a chair with blood on his hands and feet.

Her killer, was on-again-off-again boyfriend, Frederick Goings, a 36-year-old lawyer from Chicago. Henry and her daughter were murdered on Goings’ birthday. Ironically, the two met during a paternity suit against Eddy Curry, an NBA player for the New York Knicks (formerly of the Chicago Bulls, pictured above). She was trying to prove Curry was the father of her son and Goings was her legal representation. Goings has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Police have reported that Goings terrorized Nova Henry for two long years. Henry’s family claims she moved into the upscale Chicago apartment and installed a security system just one week before her demise. They say she has attempted to leave Goings on various occasions.

Yolan Henry, Nova Henry’s mother, says the relationship was unstable from the beginning. She claimed Goings stalked Henry in the past, showed up at her children’s schools, followed her to the grocery store, etc.

Henry had taken out an emergency order of protection against Goings to prohibit contact with her and her son after being threatened by Goings. Unfortunately, the order was never made permanent. In fact, even though Goings allegedly tried to push her down a flight of stairs and harassed her via telephone, she ended up dropping both the battery case as well as the protection order within a month.

Detective Lt. Denis Walsh made a statement that, “part of the motive was domestic-related.” Forensic evidence and surveillance video linked Goings to the murders. Police also traced Goings’ cell phone to a hotel in LaPorte County, Indiana. Investigators tried to contact him the day after the murders but he was not available.

Goings was charged with trespassing upon his refusal to leave the hotel. Police claim Goings was “partially surprised” by his arrest Friday near a relative’s home.

At the time of her death, Nova Henry was receiving $15,000 in monthly child support from Eddy Curry who is not a suspect and has been cooperating with the police. He is not discussing the dispute or the killings.

Nova Henry’s mother, Yolan Henry, has had custody of Noah since the day she found the bodies of his mother and younger sister. She is very been concerned about the boy’s safety because he was in the apartment at the time of the killings. Since then, her grandson has not been able to attend school or follow his daily routine.
