There isn’t any reason to omit Postcards from your entire marketing plan

Living in the age of digital technology does not mean that some of the traditional ways of marketing are extinct. While it’s true that marketing using postal mail is not as popular like it used to be, there isn’t any reason to exclude it from being a valued piece of your overall marketing plan.

An excellent example of effective postal mail promotion is the postcard. What immediately comes to your mind when you consider postcards? Do you automatically think of picture postcards that people mail friends and family when holidaying – or maybe receive from your friends or family when they are on vacation? If that’s actually what you think of then you happen to be overlooking a really practical and cost-effective yet effective means to reach out to your clients and prospective client alike.

1.    Use promo postcards for almost any purpose. As an example: A lot companies send postcards to their clients to advise them of an upcoming sale or event. It is very common for businesses to mail postcards to say “thank you” to their new clients for their first order. Postcards can also be a very effective means for businesses to notify their clients about an anniversary date that is upcoming, such as a dentist check up, etc.

2.    Postcards may well be considered small and insignificant but they do carry quite a big promotional punch. Use the front panel for making an optical impact so it will help you to think creatively, and by using images or designs that make people pay attention. The back panel of the postcard can be used for supporting information but keep it short and simple with only the most important information and your contact details. You want the information to be quick and easy so the recipeint can read it quickly because that is the best way to make your message hit home.

3.     Additionally, an benefit of utilizing a postcard for self-promotion or your business is how cheap it is to print. When you think about it, it’s just a few square inches of printed boardstock and, better yet, all you have to do is put a postage stamp on the back and then the card can be popped straight into the mail. There isn’t any need to buy envelopes and no need to lick envelopes, and of course that will save you time and cash.

4.    Great strides have been made in the digital printing industry in the last number of years, so if you choose a printing company that utilizes variable print technology you can personalize your postcards with every recipients name and additional unique details. What better way to make an impact than to customize each postcard to communicate directly to the person receiving the postcard by using their name, without it costing you anything extra? In addition, improvements in digital printing have also decreased the min. ordering requirement for many different types of printed products. Gone are the days where you are forced to order a minimum quantity of five hundred or even thousands of pieces of print. Instead, a lot of digitally printed items can be acquired in numbers of a hundred units or less.

As with almost all promotional pieces you should make sure that you are representing your company in the most professional manner possible. Take heed of the old adage, “Image is everything” because it remains true. Based on that fact make sure that your message has impact and that it is memorable, that it showcases your persona appropriately  and that the graphic design is professional.
