Today the singles draw for the US Open has been released. Sorana will face Ayumi Morita in the first round. Ayumi Morita is a 19-year-old Japanese player and is currently ranked 66th in the world. THis makes her the second Japanese player in the ranking, about 20 places after Ai Sugiyama. Morita is known for strong and consistent two-handed groundstrokes which she hits very flat. She is also regarded as very tough mentally for a young player, often showing great resolve to win close matches despite a lackluster serve.
