Aztec Symbols

The San Diego State men's soccer team recently put on another free soccer clinic, one of many events the Aztecs hosted this year for all San Diego soccer enthusiasts. More than 75 youth soccer players in the area participated in the clinic, which followed SDSU's Pac-10 match with Oregon State on Nov. 8.  

The San Diego State women's basketball team, which is receiving votes in both preseason national top 25 polls, will play host to Point Loma Nazarene on Friday at 7 p.m. at Viejas Arena for its only exhibition game prior to the official start of the 2009-10 campaign. Tickets begin at just $4 for general admission seating.  

The 24th-ranked San Diego State men's soccer team stretched its unbeaten streak to four with 1-1, double-overtime tie against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., on Sunday. Junior Khadim Diouf (Dakar, Senegal) scored for the Aztecs (6-4-5), who outshot the host Spartans (10-4-2), 18-5, including a 6-3 advantage on net.

San Diego State wide receiver DeMarco Sampson (Chula Vista, Calif.) and quarterback Ryan Lindley (Alpine, Calif.) have been named the Mountain West Conference co-Offensive Players of the Week for their performances in the team's come-from-behind win at Colorado State, the league office announced Monday morning. San Diego State softball head coach Kathy Van Wyk has announced a 53-game spring schedule, highlighted by 23 games (43.4 percent) against teams who made the 2009 NCAA tournament. The Aztecs, who last year finished 33-20 to advance to their second straight trip to the tournament and third in four seasons, will once again play host to three tournaments, including the 20th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic.
