Parenting: Prepare for the unxpected.
My son planned a delightful lunch-get-away with his daughter.
The plan was to enjoy the pizza and entertainment and the kids and noise at a nearby popular eatery. Too cool!!...just Dad and she!
All went according to schedule, including the wide-eyed anticipation of a 2 1/2yr old embarking on a thrilling adventure...too cool...just Dad and me!
All was perfect...until...the stage show began...the loud speakers blared at a deafening volume as the floor rumbled beneath their chairs, the lights dimmed to a deepening darkness and a 6 ft dancing rat appeared on stage.
My son informs me that a 2 1/2yr old can shriek in terror louder than eardrum-rupturing loud speakers.
Further, and most likely, she's indelibly imprinted with an unnatural fear of rodents for the rest of her life.
Ahhhhhh parenting.
