According to a press release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission , the Maclaren company has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations. Maclaren USA voluntarily recalled the strollers and urges parents who have the models involved in the recall to stop using them immediately. Maclaren has recalled around a million pushchairs from the American market after saying they posed a risk of "fingertip amputation" to babies and toddlers. The British firm said the recall, which relates to buggies which open and close with an 'umbrella' mechanism, only affects products sold on the American market. The move came after Maclaren received reports of 12 children having their fingertips amputated after getting them caught in the hinge mechanism. CHICAGO (Reuters) - Maclaren USA Inc is recalling about one million strollers sold in the United States over the past decade after receiving a dozen reports of children's fingers being amputated when caught in the stroller's hinges. Maclaren announced a voluntary recall with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Monday. The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using the strollers, which were made in China, unless otherwise instructed.
