Maclaren Stroller Recall Prompted by Fingertip Amputations

A  Maclaren stroller recall, prompted by fingertip amputations, involves over one million umbrella style strollers.

According to a press release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Maclaren company has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations.

Maclaren USA voluntarily recalled the strollers and urges parents who have the models involved in the recall to stop using them immediately. Consumers should contact Maclaren USA for a free repair kit.

The models involved are single and double umbrella strollers. The word “Maclaren” is printed on the stroller. The models include Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.

The strollers were sold at Babies”R”Us, Target and other juvenile product and mass merchandise retailers nationwide from 1999 through November 2009 for between $100 and $360.

The CPSC is still interested in receiving injury reports that are related to the Maclaren stroller recall prompted by fingertip amputations.
