About Chlorine
"The wood pulp used in our diapers has not been processed with chemicals containing chlorine. This prevents dangerous chlorinated toxins from being released into the environment through the pulp production process.
Did You Know?
If every household in the U.S. with babies replaced just one package of diapers processed with chemicals containing chlorine with our chlorine free diapers, we could prevent 2,800 lbs of chlorinated hydrocarbons from polluting our air, lakes and streams. Your choice of our chlorine free products can help reduce the amount of chlorinated toxins released into the environment and help make the world a healthier place for your family and generations to come.

My husband & I are big on the environment so when deciding on a diaper brand to use with our first born, we did our research. I finally picked 7th Generation after going thru the hassle of G-Diaper. We have done Stages 1-3 without a problem. Then in the last month we finally switched to Stage 4. I don't understand what happened. Suddenly we've been experiencing leaks of poop and pee variety on an everyday basis. My baby stays with my mother everyday. She would tell me in the evenings that my baby had to have her clothes changed 2x a day because of the leaks. At first I thought she just wasn't changing the baby enough but then I started to notice that the leak was happening even if you made sure to secure it on tightly. We have tried the [...] brand & did not have problems with them leaking so I think after we finish this case load, we will switch. I agree with the other people who have written their reviews.... it isn't worth the hassle of doing more laundry, spending more detergent, more water, etc... just because your diapers leak. That in the long run isn't saving the environment!

I lament using disposable diapers but as a full-time working mom, buying 7th generation is the next best thing. I like the fit and comfort of these diapers and they have improved several things about the diapers in the past couple years that my kids have been wearing them. There is now a little gather at the small of the back (waist) which helps to avoid the "plumber's crack" problem that the diapers had before. I also love that there is no odor whatsoever. I hate that perfume smell on other diapers and these do not smell at all. In fact, even if the diaper is dirty or wet, sometimes it is difficult to smell it but any good parent should be checking often. Usually they absorb enough to last through the night and only occasionally do we need to change in the early morning hours because it feels pretty full - but that's only if my baby has been nursing a lot during the night. This diaper is pretty good at preventing leaks except for those super-gooey occasions when baby is still young. When it comes to those kind of situations, I'm pretty sure there isn't a diaper on the planet that would contain that kind of leaking.
I have been ordering these diapers and the wipes from Amazon's new subscription service and this has been great! The diapers just arrive on my doorstep every month and I know I am getting the best price (plus free shipping) available. Prior to signing up with the subscription service, I had to make a special trip to the only store in town that sells these diapers and occasionally the store would be out of the size I needed. Even when they were on sale, the price was still higher than I'm getting on Amazon. If ever I need the shipment to come earlier or later, it's easy to go online and say "send shipment now" or "skip this shipment".

While I was expecting my first baby, I stocked up on these diapers because I generally love 7th Generation products, and did have a frame of reference to know what else to get. I was very disappointed with these diapers for a few reasons:
My son got a terrible diaper rash that was obviously very painful. The skin was very raised and swollen, and even bled a little. After trying various ointments, and lots of "naked time" to no avail, we switched to the Huggies Pure & Natural, and there was a huge difference right away. They seem to breathe much better. The 7th Gen diapers have a very papery coating on the outside that doesn't seem like it would let any airflow through, unlike the Huggies which have a cottony feel to them.
The fit is also better with the Huggies. The 7th Gen don't seem to fit very snugly, and are fairly bulky once on. They also don't contour to the legs as well as the Huggies. I've had leaking problems with the 7th Generation, but have not had a single problem with the Huggies. Also, the newborn Huggies have a cutout for the umbilical cord which is very nice. The 7th Gen have to be folded, which caused more irritation to my son's skin.
As far as the environmental impact goes, yes the 7th Gen are chlorine free, but they are not organic, meaning that the cotton and other fibers used were grown using very environmentally unfriendly chemicals, and they have the same chemical fillers as any other disposable. The Huggies are bleached, but they are also made with organic cotton, so the impact probably evens out in the end.
My son is now 2 months, and I still have some of the 7th Generation diapers left, but they are only used in an emergency when we've run out of Huggies.
Bottom Line: I've only tried two different types of diapers, but in my opinion, Huggies Pure and Natural are a far better choice than they 7th Generation, and given that they cost about the same, I would definitely recommend the Huggies instead (see link below).
Huggies Pure & Natural Diapers, Size 1, 33-Count (Pack of 4)
FYI: You can save lots of money on the Huggies if you sign up for Amazon's Subscribe and Save. Plus you get the convenience of having the diapers shipped right to you monthly, so you don't have to worry about any of those forgot to the the diapers from the store oops moments. :)

After our daughter grew out of swaddlers we when looking for another diaper. I bought pampers baby dry and they gave our daughter a very bad yeasty rash.
So, after a doctors visit and some very expensive cream for her, I decided to try these diapers out.
They are great. We have not have a rash since we switched to these. These are worth the money for babies with sensitive skin!!!

I have used Seventh Generation diapers on my baby since birth and she is just over one year now. I could not be happy with this product. In addition to being better for the environment than traditional disposables, they don't have any annoying animials or characters on them. I did try Earth's Best because I read reviews where some liked them better. I will say that EB fit better, but they are more difficult to remove the fasteners from itself and they are more expensive! After one shipment, I went back to 7th Generation. I highly recommend 7th Generation diapers.
