Cloris Leachman Poses in Cabbage Dress for PETA

Maybe to an edible costume party? Still how often do you get an invite to one of those? So you have to figure that when PETA asked Cloris Leachman to wear a dress made entirely of green and red leafed cabbage, she jumped at the chance.

Leachman was on hand today to unveil the pro-animal group's latest ad in Times Square, which features her in a cabbage ball gown with the slogan, "Let Vegetarianism Grow on You."

In a press release, the organization writes:
Leachman is a vibrant example of how vegetarians age gracefully... Nearly 50-years ago she decided to try a vegetarian diet for her health -- and there was no going back. As she describes in an exclusive PETA interview, 'I felt a million times better, and I've never had a bite of meat ever since then.'"
Alicia Silverstone posed nude for the pro-animal group.
Fans of Dancing With the Stars know that at 82-years-old Leachman is seriously agile. She enjoyed a surprisingly long run on the show last season, and although there's no way to tell whether her dancing skills are directly related to her no-meat diet, it definitely hasn't hurt.

Although she deserves some credit for going 50-years without meat, it's also a relief to see that she didn't follow in the footsteps of Alicia Silverstone and Amanda Beard, who posed nude for their controversial ads.

I can only hope that I look half that fabulous at 82.  Most 82 year olds are having a hard time getting around and walking long distances - forget about trying to do something like look fabulous for a photo shoot.
