Justin Timberlake's Reality Series 'The Phone' Starts Sunday

Justin Timberlake's new MTV reality series, The Phone, asks four contestants to risk their lives in dangerous and unpredictable tasks. Imagine Mission Impossible or Eagle Eye, then add real people who have no idea what the hell is going on.

In each episode four strangers will receive a call and be asked if they want to win $50,000, if they answer yes, they're divided into two teams that participate in a head-to-head race not just for money, but for survival.

According to MTV the game could be deadly. While this is possible, it's unlikely a major television network or Timberlake, who is the show's executive producer, would be willing to risk the lives of actual people.

Still, the show's official site lists potential scenarios including contestants stopping a mad bomber, confronting the mob to save a police officer's life and recovering top secret technology from potential terrorists:
Some players will rise to the challenge of The Phone, while others will crack under the pressure. The true nature of each player will be revealed as their courage is measured, their loyalty examined and their resolve put to the test under the most extreme circumstances imaginable."
The show will air in six, hour-long episodes on MTV starting Sunday, April 21 at 10 p.m. This is Timberlake's first attempt at reality TV, but there's no doubt it'll be a hit. He's conquered the worlds of music, film, fashion and even tequila, so reality TV should be easy.
