Twitter has been going a buzz for the last few days with dedicated New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys fans clamouring for the return of Martika to the pop music scene as an additional act on the super group's upcoming 2012 European Spring tour.
I have to say, if this were to actually happen (and I do hope it will), it would be one of the most notable pop music tours of 2012. The powerful combination of New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys is more than enough to sell out arenas and make fan-girls heads explode with glitter, but add one of pop's most notable and relevant female artists of the same era to the line-up and you have yourself one hell of a powerful show.
Quite honestly, it's common sense saying the least. Both female and hardcore fans of New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys probably already know who Martika is and having her support the boys on tour would make perfect sense. Are fan-girls in their thirties and late twenties really concerned with the latest Britney wannabe on a NKOTBSB tour? Probably not is the answer. Wasn't Martika and NKOTB on the same label anyways during their hay-day at the top of the pop charts? I think so.
So to who it may be concerned when it comes to booking support acts for NKOTBSB. Please, I beg you, please consider Martika as a welcome addition to the NKOTBSB European tour in early 2012. It makes sense and it will make ticket buyers very happy to know that one of their favourite late 80s/early 90s pop favorites are on the same bill. Besides, the tour needs a bit of girl power - you know it's true!
