Jake Arrieta Tommy Hunter, Wei-Yin Chen Wada and Britton Dana Eveland In a trade with the Dodgers Just signed D-Train too Patton, Ayala Gregg or Johnson the...Read Full Story

Matt Wieters: We Can't Wait

By Suzy on  From babeslovebaseball.com
Matt Wieters. We can't wait to see this guy squat behind home for the Baltimore Orioles. The 23-year-old 6'5" catcher will make his major league debut this Friday against the Detroit Tigers, as announced by team president Andy MacPhail this evening. It's not like he's going to single-handedly drag the Orioles out of the basement of the AL East, but it'll be fun to watch him hit.Wieters, the O's top prospect, played three years at Georgia Tech before Baltimore used their fifth overall pick on...Read Full Story

By The Oriole Post on  From oriolepost.blogspot.com
(posted on Oriole Magic earlier this weekend...)Like a guy or girl who you are smitten by, but don't want to commit to, the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago Cubs once again had chatter this week about Brian Roberts, but again it seems like the deal is on hold -- again. From MLB Trade Rumors: SI.com's Jon Heyman wrote on Monday that the Cubs and Orioles had resumed talks for Brian Roberts. However, Cubs GM Jim Hendry came out on Wednesday and said he hadn't had any trade talks for five or six...Read Full Story

By The Oriole Post on  From oriolepost.blogspot.com
Over the past week, there's been a healthy infusion of some youth in the Baltimore Orioles organization, and so far, the kids have delivered. Another young arm from Norfolk -- David Hernandez -- made his major league debut and impressed as the Orioles opened up their four game set with the Detroit Tigers winning on Thursday, 5-1. Luke Scott hit two home runs -- including a three-run shot in the 8th inning (he now has seven on the year) -- and drove in four to help Baltimore earn their fourth...Read Full Story

After a 5-game skid, the Orioles thanks to the brilliant pitching of Garrett Olson, Aubrey Huff’s three-run homer in seventh, along with Nick Markakis going 3-for-4 and breaking out a slump with a solo homer in the sixth, Baltimore beat the New York Yankees, 6-1. The woeful New York bullpen opened the game for Baltimore and wasted a great effort by youngster Darrell Rasner. The story of the game besides Olson’s performance was Nick Markakis finally coming out of a deep slump. Baltimore’s...Read Full Story

The Orioles Not Going Higher With Offer To Teixeira?

By The Oriole Post on  From oriolepost.blogspot.com
Well, here's somewhat discouraging news if you have been following the whole Mark Teixeira drama. Granted, he's not signed with anyone and no one knows what the Angels, Yankees along with the Red Sox have offered the slugger; however, it looks like Andy MacPhail may be focusing on fixing the team's other problems (IMO, should be key).Right now, the thought that is on many fans minds is whether Teixeira is going to come back to the Orioles, be the hero on the white horse and save the franchise...Read Full Story

Throwing One Under The Bus...

By The Oriole Post on  From oriolepost.blogspot.com
Over the past few days, a lot of people have reacted in let's say in a negative fashion -- especially on the internet and on sports talk radio -- as to what the Orioles are doing so far with the free agent market. Of course, the man at the top -- Andy MacPhail -- is getting the brunt of the criticism for being, um, "too slow".With the exception of a few years, the notion of a "winning" Oriole team since 1990 has not existed and that's why a change was made in the middle of last season...Read Full Story
