Goodbye and Good Riddance

My favorite outfield reserve, Chris Roberson, has been sent to the Baltimore Orioles for cash. Actual face value of the transaction $3.52 after taxes...ouch! I gotta say I believe we robbed the O's blind here. After all, Roberson would have simply been released at the end of spring training and any team could have claimed him off of waivers. Basically, we got enough money to buy a box of Cracker Jack with a few cents left over to give to the bum on the corner. Seriously though, Roberson just doesn't appear that he'll pan out at the MLB level. He's now 28 years old, has no power, doesn't take a walk, and really can't hit all that well either... a.k.a career minor leaguer. In 69 at bats for the Phils during 06-07 he has one extra base hit and one walk, that sucks! The only positive attributes he has are his defense and speed, but he didn't utilize either while in Philly. Maybe Chris will breakout at Inner Harbor and make me regret ever making fun of him, but until then goodbye and good riddance!
