Banff National Park, Canada

First of all, the great thing about the Banff National Park is that it developed gradually—from being a 26-kilometer hot springs reserve, it has turned into a natural attraction encompassing 6,641 square kilometers of mountain scenery on the Canadian Rockies.

This place is important to Canada because it’s the country’s first National Park, and the scenery that envelopes it is just breathtaking and magnificent.

Hiking, mountain climbing, and sightseeing are not just the things that you can do here. Clearly the place has really grown to provide visitors with a wide array of things to do, so guests of all ages will have something that will suit their preferences and abilities. Below are some of the activities in Banff Canada:

Go backpacking – the spots from where you can explore Banff through backpacking/organized tour are: Healey Creek, Mosquito Creek, Paradise Valley, Dolomite Pass, Mystic Pass, Glacier Lake, Egypt Lake, Whistling Valley. This is not even half of it!

Ride the Banff Gondola – this ride, which takes about eight minutes to the Sulphur Mountain top, will give you a panoramic view of Banff.

Drive/walk around – because the scenery is simply breathtaking, a drive or a simple walk around Banff is one of the must-do things here. The best scenic drives include Bow Falls, Tunnel Mountain, Mount Norquay, and The Sunshine Road. While you drive along these amazing spots, make sure to get out of the car and do some walking—it will be a truly rewarding experience.

Camp – this is one of the best ways to truly experience Banff. There are many campgrounds here, such as the Tunnel Mountain Campground, Two Jack Main Campground, Two Jack Lakeside Campground, and many more. Staying in Banff hotels will surely spoil you and give you a great experience, but a Banff camping is something where you’ll really test you outdoor skills while being under the Canadian Rockies.
Go bird-watching – because there are over 260 species of birds in Banff, bird-watching is one of the activities that you must do. Not only is it relaxing, it is also educational. Some of the sites for bird-watching are at the foot of Tunnel Mountain, in the Cave and Basin March, or in Johnston’s Canyon.
Go on guided tours – if you’re with kids, going on guided tours will be a great idea because one of the best ways to experience the place is to learn its history. There are many options of guided tours, and it’s up to you which places you’d like to learn about.

Do some rock climbing – a wide array of rock climbing options are available at the Banff National Park, all of them will definitely give you a rewarding climb. For moderate climbing, there are spots such as Cascade Mountain and Mt. Rundle; and for those looking for a bit more challenge, the high summits of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are perfect.
