When I was on facebook, I had a looksy at all my old pictures, and I found a couple of old graffiti pictures, taken in landan in good old 2009, which thus brought me to the idea of looking at graffiti in this blog post. Yay or nay idea I dunno, I'll see what you lovelies think.
I thought I'd also have a bit of a google about the whole graffiti art, which obvi brought me to wiki:
'Sometimes graffiti expresses social and political messages and a whole genre of artistic expression is based upon spray paint graffiti styles. To some, it is an art form worthy of display in galleries and exhibitions; to others it is merely vandalism. Graffiti has evolved into a pop culture existence often related to underground hip hop music, b-boying, and a lifestyle that remains hidden from the general public. Graffiti can be used as a gang signal to mark territory or to serve as an indicator or "tag" for gang-related activity.'
Interesting stuff, but I think we all know which artist is most famous for his graffiti yet also so anonymous, we still don't wholly know who he is.
Yes I am talking about Banksy.
Banksy's work was born in the Bristol underground scene, his art is described as controversial, combining irrelevant dark political humour, often mocking our modern way of life, and tackling taboo's head on. He uses stencil techniques, to word his political commentary.
Because I lav Banksy so much, I thought I'd copy one of his art works, as an Art student myself, I hope you like it :)
Until next time X
