Barbara Walters Visits 'Good Morning America'

Barbara Walters visits the "Good Morning America" show in New York City to promote her upcoming 90 minute special "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011." On tonight's special, Walters will be featuring the Kardashians as one of her featured guests, along with Simon Cowell, Pippa Middleton and Donald Trump on her 90 minute episode. Barbara Walters (Pacific Coast News) Apparently famed talk show host Barbara Walters is getting ready to step down from her throne. She reportedly told President Barack Obama that she's planning to retire next year, but really she kinda told the world because her mic was on and a whole crowd of people heard the news. Whoops!

TMZ jumped on the story, and reports she was interviewing Obama at the White House and during a break she leaned over and told him: "I need one more interview with you because I'm retiring next year."

But, turns out Walters was just kidding. A head honcho at ABC, Jeff Schneider, told TMZ: "Barbara has joked that she is retiring every year since the Clinton Administration. Anyone who just did a day trip to Syria, 90-minute prime time special and an interview with the President and First Lady hardly sounds like someone retiring from anything."

When TMZ asked if she told the little white lie to get another interview, Schneider laughed: "She's one of the greatest bookers who ever lived."

Now, Walters is on The View, and her "Most Fascinating People" special aired last night, and she does the occasional special for ABC, so she'd be greatly missed if she does retire. But, at 82, it would probably be nice if she could just, you know, hang out at the beach or something.
