She is sometimes known as Babs Windsor, and is best known for her part in the Carry On films and as Peggy Mitchell in BBC soap opera EastEnders, and is now known as something of a 'national institution'.
Barbara Windsor has decided to leave EastEnders after more than 15 years in the soap. The legendary British actress, who plays landlady Peggy Mitchell, will say farewell to the Queen Vic and Albert Square next year.
Windsor, 72, said she will be sad to leave but wants to spend more time with her husband.
“EastEnders has been wonderful to me,” she said in a statement, “and it’s no secret that it changed my life all of those years ago.
