Frank Gehry For a guy who started out as a truck driver in Los Angeles, Architect Frank Gehry has continued to drive. But instead of trucks, it’s the deconstructivism bus he steers in new directions, redefining modern architecture. Walt Disney Concert Hall, Downtown Los Angeles Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain www.adfilmfest.com/films/detail.asp?filmID=11 www.livingwithwhite.com/vitra-design-museum/ The Vitra Design Museum in Germany is an all-white labyrinth of sharp angles and free-flowing curves. One element that makes this building so striking is the minimalist use of windows. What few windows there are have been placed high on the structure, bringing the complex architectural shapes to the immediate foreground. Frank ... Read Full Story

By metro, tram, bus, bike, car or on foot, taking in the streetscapes, panoramas and often-startling architecture of Barcelona can make for a full itinerary. But while you're here, you'll also want to check out what's inside — art, history, and of course, tapas and wine. Antoni Gaudi never had access to the computer-aided design tools modern architects use. Instead, he relied on nature for inspiration and on small-scale models to test complex structural ideas. Gaudi (1852-1926) designed and built parks, apartment buildings, homes and churches in Spain's Catalonia region, especially Barcelona. His distinctive architectural style riled critics. Even countryman and painter Pablo Picasso ridiculed his originality. Still, Gaudi pushed ahead. He refined structural and decorative techniques. "Gaudi's methods, one century later, continue to be revolutionary," architect Norman Foster said in 1985. Catalonia, on the Mediterranean coast, was a key influence on Gaudi. His "unwavering loyalty to his origins" nourished ... Read Full Story

Day 3 was really a dread, simply too fast too tire. After having our breakfast at the hostel, we (Shannie, MJ, Jessica and Alisa) went to Casa Batlo, another Gaudi's design. William decided to stay at the hostel as day was sunny and of course the most important thing about sunny and hot weather here is the chance to see some naked women at the beach. Well, it's simply a weird house or flat ( I am not sure what is this building) designed by Spain famous architect, Gaudi located at the center of the Barcelona city. The admission fee is 16 Euros ( ... Read Full Story
