I am having
gastric
bypass
surgery
soon, if my TSH, 3rd generation is high is that my weight
promblem?
Depends what the reference range (‘normal range’) is in the lab that measured your TSH. Usually the upper end goes up to around 5.5 – 6. It’s not related to the ‘third generation’ thing. So 16.57 is quite high. This might mean your thyroid is underactive and one of the effects of that is weight gain. Ask your doctor if it’s worth investigating that before having the surgery.
My thyroid has been tested before and it was borderline high. I just had my pre-op test for gastric
bypass
surgery and my TSH, 3rd generation is 16.57. Could this be my weight problem? Hate to have surgery if this was something that could have been missed.
