How Gastric Banding Works

A surgeon implants a silicone band (either the Lap-Band or Realize Adjustable Gastric Band) around the upper part of the stomach creating a smaller stomach pouch. Doing so limits the amount of food eatten which helps the individual feel full faster, thus eating less.
