New Yorker magazine artist
Barry Blitt has joined
Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie in hiding as the net roots is after him for his cartoon portraying Barack and Michelle Obama in the Oval office. They have issued a fatwa and want Barry's head on a spike. They need to make sure they get the right "Barry".
The cartoon portrays Barack dressed as a Muslim. I think there is picture of him dressed just this way, including a family shot with him hugging his Muslim relatives in Kenya. Michelle is portrayed as an armed radical carrying an AK-47 assault rifle and sporting a 1960's style Afro hairdo. I did not know she was a member of the NRA! She needs to change hair dressers. In the oval office the presumed first family has a portrait of Osama Bin Laden over the fire place. Al Qaeda has not endorsed Obama, Hamas has. Maybe the artist was saying it is just a matter of time before Osama endorses Obama. Both are doing the fist bump, the new Obama campaign and VIEW greeting. If you don't fist bump they know you are a Republican. Finally, in the cartoon the U.S. flag is burning in the oval office fire place. I think this has something to do with: my friend Bill Ayers the terrorist, not wearing a flag pin, "not God Bless America, no, no,no God Damn America", and not holding your hand over your heart during the National Anthem things.
The outrage from the Obama camp, the main stream media, and even those liberal free speech advocates was deafening. You would have thought the New Yorker had put a photo of Jesus on the front cover dipped in urine. Remember "
Piss Christ" by Andres Serrano. Oh wait that is alright because it is art, was paid for by us taxpayers, and is protected free speech.
I know, it is like putting a cartoon of Mohammad on the front cover wearing a bomb for a turban. That's more like it. Real outrage. The net roots burning copies of the New York Times, oops I meant the New Yorker. Rioting, burning cars, tearing up Bibles, effigies of George W. Bush in flames. Protesters in the streets carrying signs saying "Freedom go to Hell" and stuff like that.
It gets worse. New Yorker editor David Remnick went on
CNN's The Situation Room to answer to Wolf Blitzer who said to Remnick, "There are gonna be a lot of people who aren't going to be sophisticated New Yorker readers who are going to look at this cover" and assume it is an accurate portrayal of reality. Who are these unsophisticated readers? Those who cling to their guns and religion?
Wolf then says that the cover could've appeared on "a neo-Nazi magazine." Neo-Nazi magazine? Nope that's not the New Yorker magazine. Wolf must have been thinking of Ron Paul supporters. Portrayal of reality? Well who knows. The more we learn about Barack and Michelle the more questions are raised.
I think
John Daily got it right when he said on his show, "Barack Obama should in no way be upset about the cartoon that depicts him as a Muslim extremist, because you know who gets upset about cartoons? Muslim extremists."
It seems that the image of Barack and Michelle Obama are more sacred to liberals, the media, and Democrats than that of Jesus Christ. Ah, the new messiah.
