The Ehrman-Carrier Kerfuffle

By switch89 on  From aigbusted.blogspot.com
So, a while back Bart Ehrman published a book called Did Jesus Exist? arguing against Jesus mythicist theories and for a historical Jesus. The well-known mythicist Richard Carrier has written a pretty harsh and rhetorically-overblown review of the book, accusing Ehrman of incompetence and even obnoxiously declaring that his own books are far superior to Bart's latest book. Even worse than that, many of the mistakes Carrier points could not even concievably be classified as whoppers indicitive...Read Full Story

By CoolAmp on  From youtube.com
The Gospel of Judas - Bart Ehrman & Darrell Bock "The reappearance of the Gospel of Judas will rank among the greatest finds from Christian antiquity and is without doubt the most important archaeological discovery of the past 60 years. What will make this gospel famous—or infamous, perhaps—is that it portrays Judas quite differently from anything we previously knew. Here he is not the evil, corrupt, devil-inspired follower of Jesus who betrayed his master; he is instead Jesus' closest...Read Full Story
Me and Bart Ehrman
If you hadn’t noticed, Bart Ehrman now has a blog, of sorts: ehrmanblog.org. He also has a new popular book, on “Did Jesus Exist?” More importantly, in the past year he and Zlatko Plese released their diglot edition of the Apocryphal Gospels (amazon.com). It is awesome, you should get a copy. Really. And in December 2012 another scholarly-level book is slated, Forgery and Counter...

Inventing Jesus: An Interview with Bart Ehrman
It’s usually clear to Bart Ehrman who loves him and who hates him. Evangelical Christians have been raking Ehrman over the coals for years for his rejection of biblical inerrancy—and atheists and humanists have embraced his writing as ammunition in the ...

Bart Blogging
Bart Ehrman has just started a blog titled Christianity in Antiquity. Good stuff, but there’s a hitch: some of the content is behind a pay wall. But the money generated by the blog with go to charities that fight hunger, poverty and homelessness. Interesting idea. I’m always ambivalent about pay walls, but it helps to [...]
