So, a while back Bart Ehrman published a book called Did Jesus Exist? arguing against Jesus mythicist theories and for a historical Jesus. The well-known mythicist Richard Carrier has written a pretty harsh and rhetorically-overblown review of the book, accusing Ehrman of incompetence and even obnoxiously declaring that his own books are far superior to Bart's latest book. Even worse than that, many of the mistakes Carrier points could not even concievably be classified as whoppers indicitive...Read Full Story

Here he is not the evil, corrupt, devil-inspired follower of Jesus who betrayed his master; he is instead Jesus' closest...Read Full Story

More importantly, in the past year he and Zlatko Plese released their diglot edition

These are exciting times. More big name scholars are beginning to blog. A while ago, Larry Hurtado joined the blogging revolution. Then there was Dan Wallace, and just recently Stan Porter was assimilated to the blog collective. Now Bart Ehrman has entered the fray. His blog is called Christianity in Antiquity: The Bart Ehrman Blog. [...]

But the money generated by the blog with go to charities that fight hunger, poverty and homelessness. Interesting idea. I’m always ambivalent about pay walls, but it helps to [...]
