So, okay, if New York was defeated last night in their final game at Yankees Stadium, the Red Sox would have secured themselves a spot in the Playoffs once again. But, come on, if you have a soul for baseball, were you really cheering for Baltimore? Who wants to see the Yanks, no matter how heated the rivalry was, lose their final game in the House that Ruth Built and George Tore Down? I admit I was moved last night (except for John Miller constantly wondering who was going to hit the last home run at Yankee Stadium.) It was great to see all those ...

In other news, lefty Armando Zerpa was returned to the Red Sox by the Dodgers. Zerpa, 23, was a Rule 5 draft pick in December by the Rays then traded to the Dodgers. It became evident quickly that he would not stick with Los Angeles, so they shipped him back to the Sox.
The Sox ended up making $25,000, half what it cost the Rays to take him. Drinks are on John Henry.
Zerpa had a 4.85 ERA and averaged 8.2 strikeouts per nine innings last...

Update, 1:20 PM: Bill Hall with the first Red Sox hit of 2010! I won't be updating on this game vs. Northeastern, but I had to acknowledge that Red Sox baseball is being played right now!On lunch break at work--but still while working, mind you--I was able to get through in the second chance drawing and get two more Yankee games, with seats together. On a foreign computer, too! Tense moment when my card didn't go through on the first try, but...
The National Champion and number one in the country University of Connecticut women Huskies basketball team soundly thrashed the number three team, none other than Notre Dame, by a score of 70-46 in Storrs, Connecticut in front of a sold-out wildly cheering crowd. Before you knew it, the Huskies had jumped out to a 17-2 lead. Remember, Notre Dame has beaten its opponents by an average of over twenty points, but not Saturday night. The UCONN...
Evan Grant chatted about the Rangers on Tuesday. Here are some highlights ... On whether the Rangers will ever develop a rivalry as intense as Yankees vs. Red Sox: Nope. New York and Boston have a rivalry that transcends baseball anyway. They are rivals in every sport. And it's been that way for a long time. Nothing like it really in pro sports. But it would be nice to see something of a rivalry with...
