Armani Jeans Milano locked up one of the top young players in
European basketball over the weekend by signing power forward
Nicolo Melli for the next four seasons.
Melli (205, 19) arrives from
Trenkwalder Reggio
Emilia, where he averaged 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1 block in 27 Italian second division games last season.
Melli helped
Reggio Emilia advance to the
Italian second division semifinals in 2008 and 2010. He has been viewed as a potential star for several years now, representing the
Italian national team at the under-16 and U-18 levels.
Melli was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 13.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2 blocks per game at the 2007
U-16
European Championships in
Greece.
