NBA Betting: Rose-led Bulls get past Spurs
Derrick Rose had 13 points and seven assists to lead the balanced Chicago Bulls to an impressive 92-85 season-opening victory over the visiting San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night.
Rose, who missed most of the preseason with an injured ankle, showed the explosiveness that carried him to the NBA Betting Rookie of the Year award last season. He had no trouble penetrating and delivered some dizzying spin moves.
The NBA Betting will review accusations by former referee Tim Donaghy that were posted online - even though the publisher is blowing the whistle on the book they were to appear in.
Rose had plenty of help, and Chicago pulled away in the second half despite Tim Duncan's 28 points and 16 rebounds for the Spurs.
Luol Deng had 17 points and nine rebounds, a good start after missing the final 22 games last season. Kirk Hinrich added 14 points, while Tyrus Thomas scored all of his 13 in the second half. Joakim Noah chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Toronto exercised the fourth-year option on guard Marco Belinelli, two days before the NBA Betting deadline. Belinelli, whose contract is now guaranteed through the 2010-11 season, was the 18th pick in the 2007 draft by the Warriors. He was acquired by Toronto in an offseason trade with Golden State.
- New Jersey exercised contract options on Courtney Lee, Brook Lopez (Stanford) and Yi Jianlian for the 2010-11 seasons. Lopez's option was for his third NBA season. He will earn $2.41 million.
