The wilderness of northern Sweden, where Will Ferrell ate grilled reindeer eyeballs with adventurer Bear Grylls, seems like a long way to go to promote a movie and test-drive a television spinoff. But that's where the two men were for 48 hours in early April, where the subzero temperatures made laughable the idea of spring. Their trip is chronicled on an episode of the Discovery Channel's "Man vs. Wild" series that debuts Tuesday at 10 p.m. Ferrell climbs out of a helicopter by rope ("Mommy!" he shouts), is eased down a cliff supported by two sticks wedged in ice, trudges through waist-deep snow on ... Until October, I never had cable television. Climbers I'd worked with over the years told me about Survivorman and about Man vs. Wild on the Discovery Channel , but I never had the opportunity to see these shows. For those of you who are as clueless as I was, Survivorman follows a survival expert named Les Stroud on his exploits. Stroud brings his own camera equipment and records himself making survival decisions. In Man vs. Wild, a former officer in the British Special Forces named Bear Grylls is followed by a camera crew as he "survives" in the wilderness. From oregonbackcountry.com At the beginning ... Is there anything more entertaining than Will Ferrell and Bear Grylls drinking their own urine? The star joined the host of “Man vs. Wild” for an upcoming episode of the Discovery Channel show, set to air in June. It’s a stellar example of cross marketing promotion with Ferrell’s “Land of the Lost” scheduled for release June 5. In the episode, Ferrell joins Grylls in the far north of Sweden and they spend 48 hours taking on Mother Nature. They rappel down hundred-foot frozen waterfalls, tandem-abseil off a helicopter and huddle for warmth overnight in subzero temperatures. The two also find food in the forest, ... Read Full Story

Will Ferrell says it was a thrill to join adventurer Bear Grylls for an icy episode of Discovery Channel's "Man vs. Wild." The channel said Wednesday that Ferrell and series host Grylls spent two days in Sweden's mountains and glaciers for a "Man vs. Wild" special. With Grylls as his guide, Ferrell rappelled down frozen waterfalls, scavenged for food in the forest — including reindeer eyeballs — and improvised snow shoes from saplings. Ferrell said being part of "Man vs. Wild" was the "thrill of a lifetime." In turn, Grylls said he did an amazing job in unforgiving conditions. The episode is set to ... Read Full Story
If I had a nickel for every time I ate deer poop after getting out of a cave...Seriously though, I'd sooner take medical advice from a witch doctor before I took survival advice from Bear Grylls' show. I'll never forget the episode where he suggests using a pole-vault to leap down a rocky hillside as a means of faster travel.

Fearless, no-nonsense, and really rather marvellous – the former Page 3 model took the bushtucker trial in her strideSam Fox: she's brilliant. Not a sentence I had envisaged typing, but then what is life without a few lovely surprises?
