News and opinions about TV actress Bea Arthur. Bea Arthur was an Emmy Award-winning actress, singer, and comedian known for her deep voice and tall stature, standing almost 5 ft 10 in. Her trademark roles have been on television, playing the lead character on the popular sitcoms Maude and The Golden Girls.
The TV world has lost another great. Actress Beatrice Arthur passed away early Saturday morning at the age of 86. Reports from a family representative states that she had been suffering from cancer, although it was not reported what type. She died peacefully in her Los Angeles home with her family by her side. I have nothing much to write except to note that one of the great comedienne actresses passed away. Bea Arthur with her masculine form of femininity truly showed everyone how it was to be the consummate lady. She was a trailblazer. She was Maude and she was Dorothy. She was always Bea.
Tears are shed because she is no longer among us. Thank goodness for reruns. She will live forever.

I loved the Golden Girls. It was the Sex And The City of its time. I think Dorothy was the one that really made the show funny. And yes, I know Bea had a successful acting career even before the Golden Girls.
