News and opinions about TV actress Bea Arthur. Bea Arthur was an Emmy Award-winning actress, singer, and comedian known for her deep voice and tall stature, standing almost 5 ft 10 in. Her trademark roles have been on television, playing the lead character on the popular sitcoms Maude and The Golden Girls.
Sad News: Bea Arthur - Loss of a Golden Girl
The TV world has lost another great. Actress Beatrice Arthur passed away early Saturday morning at the age of 86. Reports from a family representative states that she had been suffering from cancer, although it was not reported what type. She died peacefully in her Los Angeles home with her family by her side. Bea was my favorite Golden Girl with her deep voice, height, and sarcastic quips. She also played Maude, which originally aired on CBS in 1972.
