Enhancing Beauty

Every human being loves beauty and desires to look good irrespective of the gender. Some people want to look good because they want to impress others while some do it for self satisfaction. Biologically human beings have an epidermis which is called skin in common language. The texture and the type of skin differs from person to person. Some have dry skin, some oily while some have a combination skin. Skin acts as a protective layer against the environment. In the days of yore, when there was no industrialization and therefore lack of pollution, the change in the intrinsic nature of skin was not as rapid as it is today. Due to the addition of unwanted elements in the original composition of environment, our skin is getting more vulnerable with every passing day. Earlier women and men used to take care of their skin with the help of natural ingredients which did not have any harmful side effects. Now more than the natural products chemically prepared skincare items and beauty items are used . It is not necessary that these chemically prepared items might cause sever damage to your skin but then again there is no substitute for natural beauty products.

Skincare products broadly come under the umbrella of kosmetiks. Skincare products are meant to maintain the texture of your skin. For e.g moisturizer helps in maintaining the necessary level of moisture in your skin, sunscreen lotion prevents your skin from getting tanned, face wash removes excess of oil, dirt and other impurities from your facial skin whereas a body lotion keeps your body well hydrated and moisturized. Another category of kosmetik such as eyeliner, kohl pencil, eye shadow, lipstick, rouge, nail polish, talcum powder, hair color as well as hair gels and deodorants help in beautifying or enhancing the physical appearance of a person. The chemical manufacturing of these kosmetiks started in the early decade of 20th century and has been since then dominated by multinational companies through out the world. The United States of America holds the position of being the largest market for kosmetikstudios in the world followed by Japan. France and Germany are other major players in this market.

The notion of enhancing one's beauty through other products has been an ancient one. The earliest evidence of any cosmetic product used can be traced to 3500 BC. In Ancient Egypt the royalties were known to use cosmetics. The Ancient Greeks and Romans were known too for their consumption of cosmetics. Painting eyelids and lining eyes with kohl was a common practice. With the advancement in science and technology now, it is possible not only to enhance one's appearance but also bring changes in body parts. The fact that many actresses undergo cosmetic surgery to get an aquiline nose or a tummy tuck or a breast augmentation is an open secret. Cosmetic surgery has often been associated with plastic surgery but not all plastic surgery is cosmetic surgery. In a materialistic world where first impression is often considered to be the last impression, anything which enhances your physical appearance indeed holds a position of power in the market.
