Sunless Tanning Products: Don’t Glow in the Dark this Summer

We all know that some of the sunless tanning products that have been sold in the past were, well, let’s just say they give less than convincing simulations of the real thing; so why would anyone want to keep using them?

It won’t have escaped your attention that getting a little bit too much sun does more than just turn you ‘slightly rosy’ in color; the affects further down the line can have life threatening consequences, and many people have been learning this the hard way; so what are the options? Do you risk a full on tan, and hope for the best, or do you try the best sunless tanning products on the market, and live a little?

Granted, many of the older, or cheaper, products on the market do tend to make some people look like they should be squeezed into a carton of O.J, but that isn’t always going to be the case; not if you have the right sunless tanning products e.g. Idol Tan; for you.

Sunless tanning products guide

Before you even buy your first sunless tanning products there are a number of things to take into consideration.

Have you ever bought a beauty product, put it on your skin, and then discovered that you had a severe allergic reaction to it? Now, can you imagine what that would be like if the product you put on covered 80% of your body? Not really a pleasant thought, is it?

Before you take the plunge on any product that uses chemicals, and is going to cover so much of your body, you should either find out what’s in it, and check with your doctor to see if you’re allergic to the ingredients; or, be a bit sneaky, put a small amount on a small square of skin, and wait for a few hours to see what happens; of course, you can only do that with off the shelf tanners in a pharmacy, or, by getting a free sample of a product like Idol Tan, to try out.

All of the best sunless tanning products will contain moisturizers. This isn’t necessarily to make it less of a tangerine tan; it just helps to give the skin added nutrition. If you’ve been out in the sun for any length of time ‘working’ on your tan, you’ll know that the skin loses a lot of moisture in the process, and not all of the lotions that you buy take that into account.

Something that many people don’t even think about, when buying sunless tanning products, is whether they’re buying one that’s right for their skin color. Unlike you, most people are going to think that these products are, essentially, one type does all, but that’s not true; in fact, making the wrong choice may be why so many people end up with that ‘radiation afterglow’ coloring.

Think about your natural skin color, and then find the best sunless tanning products that are a shade or two darker than your natural coloring. If you’re worried about going to work one day looking pale, and the next looking like you’ve spent six months in the desert, then try gradually ‘moving’ your shade from light to dark i.e. for a few days have it a shade darker than natural, then take it a shade darker again. It may seem a bit extreme, but it gives a more ‘natural’ feel to your tanning.

The next thing to do is to check out a few sunless tanning product reviews on websites, or in magazines, and see which ones are topping the reviews.

So, if you’re worried about the issue of health vs. vanity, getting good sunless tanning products will solve the problem; just remember not to get the one that will make you glow in the dark.
