Surprising Celebrity Scientologist #10: Beck Hansen

What do Danny Masterson, Erika Christensen, and Beck have in common? Getty

Beck and wife Marisa Ribisi.
Although raised into Scientology, musician Beck managed to keep his affiliation with L. Ron Hubbard's organization under wraps until around 2007, when speculation about the suicides of writer Theresa Duncan and artist companion Jeremy Blake began to make news.

Both Duncan and Blake had ties to Beck: Blake designed the cover of Beck's 2002 album Sea Change, while Duncan had stated in 2003 that Beck was going to be in a movie she'd written called Alice Underground. For whatever reason the relationship between the couple and Beck soured, and the movie never happened. Duncan stated in a blog post that she was being harassed by the Church of Scientology, and that the harassment had begun after Blake's work for Beck.

Beck does not often speak publicly about his religion, but has said that he'd have "nothing but positive things to say about [Scientology]. He's a frequent donator to the COS, and is married to fellow Scientologist Marisa Ribisi, sister to Giovanni Ribisi.
