I have seen a dramatic decrease in the amount of bee swarms this year. Even the average size of the swarm has decreased. In the past they usually have ranged from size of basketball or larger. I can tell you many of the ones I caught this year were the size of a softball.
Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) has been the cause for this decrease and the problem is entymologists still have not figured out what is the cause of this disorder. There have been a range of possible causes such as cell phone waves, new pesticides, mites, ants, etc, but they have not determined what it is. Most of the experts say it is not one factor--it is a compilation of various plagues that are causing CCD.
