America is celebrating American Craft Beer Week and with that breweries all over the country are helping to spread the word about craft beer and how well it goes with all kinds of food. The Boston Beer Company set out on a 10 city tour and partnered up with some great restaurants to showcase their ales and to share some great meals with the beer loving public. I was lucky enough to receive two complimentary tickets to the May 15th Denver beer dinner at the Rioja restaurant in downtown Denver. I wanted to share this experience with some friends so I brought along a ... Read Full Story

Anytime I get the chance to visit with some of my Internet beer friends I jump at the chance. I got a message from Dave Juart of Muckney Brewing the other day. He was on a business trip to Colorado and was headed up to Fort Collins on a beer trek and asked if I was available to meet him for lunch. Heck ya! I didn't need no other reason to break away for a long lunch. I suggested Choice City Butcher & Deli as a meeting spot. It wasn't more than a month ago or so when another friend Dave of Musings over ... Read Full Story

Living and working in a big beer town like Fort Collins is like living in a candy store. So many beers are brewed all within a few square miles. The local restaurants in the area can't help but highlight all of these local brews. The downtown Fort Collins area along College Avenue has a wide variety of restaurants and cafes and makes the perfect location to go grab some lunch. I had the pleasure of meeting up with a fellow beer blogger David from Musings Over a Pint who was out in Colorado on a business trip. He told me that he was headed ... Read Full Story

Being that it's the Friday before Labor Day Weekend, I felt it would be appropriate to do a piece partly about entertaining and well, beer. I've recently become accustomed to the taste of beer (I've only been 21 for a little less than a year now..) and I'm starting to crave the cold bubbles dancing on my taste buds following a bite of warm and gooey pizza. Ah, the joys of fine and healthy dining. That's already a great combo but add this glassware from Z Gallerie into the mix, and we officially have a nice party going. As well as a conversation piece. ... Read Full Story
It’s that holly jolly, manicky panicky time of year again. At this point, with just less than a week to finish up your holiday shopping, it’s a little late to be puttering about on the Internet. But have no fear, there are other options when buying for the beer lover on your Secret Santa list. First and foremost, there is the option of going to an actual physical store to buy something (gasp!). Number one on our list would be the Publick...

[Photograph: Maggie Hoffman] 'Tis the season for warming beers—for velvety barrel-aged stouts and serious brews from Belgium. Over the last few weeks, we've also been sampling winter warmers and other winter seasonals: beers released specifically for Christmas and for sipping over the cold months ahead. A few of these beers might satisfy your Christmas cookie cravings: They have hints of oatmeal and nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Others are...

I can't think of a better reason to take the train up to San Francisco than the Monk's Kettle's Beer Pairing dinner.  My second (or was it third?) beer dinner there was the November 4th event hosted by Firestone Walker Brewing Company.  We all got comfortable and finished our happy hour beers (note to self: happy hour beer not necessary when dinner comes with 6 beers) in our seats along the kitchen. It took me awhile to write this up, as I...

[Photographs: Maggie Hoffman] Last week, we recommended eight great beers to serve with your Thanksgiving feast. But the beer pairing doesn't have to end when you bring out dessert. Beer is actually great with pie, and pie is even better with a well-chosen beer. Some beers mirror the cinnamon and nutmeg in your dessert, while others bring out the caramel and nut flavors. Some are richer than espresso and cream, some are buttery, and others are...

Two of my co-workers have been traveling to Australia (Sydney) once a month and they will do it till March. (I am trying to steal a trip from them). The nice thing is that I will have a good supply of Vegemite for sometime. Anyway, I was a little surprised when my co-workers complained that Australian Beers suck. So here is the question to the Australians here, do you guys drink only imported beer? What Australian Beers will you recommend for...
